What are Lingual Braces?

Lingual braces are braces placed on the inner side or the tongue side of teeth. They are the most invisible among braces. They are often used as a brace option for adult and adolescent patients. They are also a good option for patients who take part in contact sports. It takes two to three hours to fit lingual braces.

How long should I wear Lingual Braces?

Patients need to wear lingual braces for from one to four years. The length of time depends on the unique requirements of each individual patient.

Is getting Lingual Braces fitted painful?

Fitting lingual braces is not painful. Patients may feel pain or discomfort until they get used to wearing lingual braces. Getting adjusted to lingual braces may take a week or ten days. Pain killers are prescribed to make adjustment easy.

How are Lingual Braces fitted?

An impression of the teeth of patients is taken and customized brackets are fabricated. The brackets are glued on the inner surface of teeth and wires are woven through the brackets and secured. The braces work by exerting pressure on teeth and moving them to the correct position.

What care is required after fitting Lingual Braces?

Patients should take the prescribed medications correctly. They should attend orthodontist appointments correctly and get their braces adjusted. They should avoid eating hard food products. They should practice correct dental hygiene and brush and floss their teeth regularly.

Bordon Clinic

0800 808 5310 Madrid, Spain
Rating from 22 Reviews I was very comfortable with the doctor and you could tell they were experiencedDawn, France, 30 Nov 16

I'm from the United States and I live in France, when I needed to get my crown replaced I started to do some research and discovered the cost of my treatment would be roughly 3 times the price in France as it is in Spain, so I decided to get it done in Spain whilst away on a business trip. Upon arriving at the clinic I felt it was very nice, clean and easy to find. The receptionists didn't speak English, but the doctor was fully bilingual and this really made my visit much easier, it was a deciding factor in choosing to come here. I was very comfortable with the doctor and you could tell they were experienced. I needed a crown replaced, in my first session I had a consultation and the details of my new porcelain crown was sent off to the lab to be made. I'm going back tomorrow, 3 weeks later to get the crown fitted. I had a similar treatment in the US, the doctor here used the same techniques and was of a similar experience, so I knew it was going to be a good experience, which it was. The treatment itself was good value, 3 times less than french prices. I was quoted a price by the clinic in an email following a detailed explanation of my problem and this was the same price I was charged following my treatment.

Smalto Dental Clinic

Rating from 29 Reviews What a great, compassionate, professional dentist.Evgenia, Turkey, 09 Mar 17

After returning from England a year ago, I decided it was time for some cosmetic dental work. I wanted someone with an excellent reputation, but also within my limited budget. I spent several days researching the internet, speaking with multiple dental clinics, and finally found Smallto Dental Clinic. The staff were courteous and professional. My appointments were always timely, so no lost time in waiting. But, most important was the outstanding quality of the dental work. I had several cosmetic crowns along with a full mouth rehabilitation. I could not be more pleased and MY SMILE PROVES IT!! Not only do I highly recommend Smallto Clinic, but I would be pleased to personally answer any questions directly (ioannouevgenia@outlook.com). You will not be disappointed. Friendly, professional, fantastic group of 7 dentists and dental assistants. The facilities are state of the art. The staff speak multiple languages. They do all forms of modern dentistry including implants and cosmetic dentistry. My dentist was Dr. Vasilis Vasiloudes (dental surgeon). What a great, compassionate, professional dentist.

Rating from 39 Reviews The facilities are very good and you almost never have to wait.Sjoerd, Netherlands, 10 Jul 18

This time I went by for a quick check and pain in my mouth on the right side for more than a year. It turned out I had 4 cavities and some pigmentation(s). The choice to treat all those cavities was mine to make. The dentist showed me with the mirror what was wrong and told me what would be the impact of not treating it. The whole procedure was done very carefully and two times, as it was on different parts in my mouth. On that way, you can function normally during the day, as I always want an anaesthesia for the pain. They use the best products, the best, cheerful, honest and professional doctors, the contact is very easy and professional. They always make place in their agenda to treat you well. The facilities are very good and you almost never have to wait. They really take their time for you and advise you to come back later if they run out of time. There is nothing to dislike about this practice. Wish we could find a similar clinic in Holland. It would save me a lot of travelling costs. One of the things I did not mention before is the holistic approach, which is very suitable to our current lifestyle. We have been coming here over 10 years and hopefully many years more will follow!

SmileLux

01908 410613 Milton Keynes, UK
Rating from 4 Reviews I was a person, was always treated with kindness, respect, and friendshipAlan, UK, 04 May 18

On my first visit to the SmileLux office at Milton Keynes, I was greeted by smiling faces, offered a drink, and guided to the comfortable waiting area. I knew I was somewhere special when I found magazines on the table that were all current and even better, one was about food. I relaxed immediately. I was about to embark on a two-year journey wearing Invisalign retainers for 22hrs every day. I must admit that it felt like an impossible task as I was sure that I either ate or drank for much longer than that every day. Also, I was initially concerned how it might affect my speech. However, it soon became routine and I got so used to having them in that my speech was unaffected and they became part of the daily routine rather than something to be endured. They were just a part of life. My appointments with Sunil Hirani were unlike any previous visit to the dentists or the doctors or, as I will shortly come to, the hospital. I never once felt like anything less than a complete person while at SmileLux. I wasn’t a set of teeth or a problem to be fixed. I was a person and was always treated with kindness, respect, and friendship. It sounds obvious but it isn’t always the case. So, weeks passed and road marks were crossed as I completed six months, then 9, then a full year. Each set of aligners is numbered, so I counted them off month by month seeing the numbers rise. I was getting close to the end, number 42 out of 50, when things changed. I found that I had cancer. Actually, I had two – both apparently unrelated yet both in close proximity. One in a tonsil (Left) and one in the thyroid (also the left node). Two at once – wow, I was special at last. Clearly, with radio and chemotherapy on the horizon I would not be able to keep wearing the retainers full time so, after consultation with Sunil, it was decided that things could go on hold and I would keep wearing the current aligner overnight three or four times a week to keep things in position. Interesting times followed, during which I learned a number of interesting things about my treatments and a few more interesting things about myself. I could cope. In fact, I coped exceptionally well and went through my treatments with barely any concern. Chemotherapy, which I approached with some misgivings, having heard ‘stories’, turned out to be fine. I didn’t react badly to the chemicals used and actually felt better after a day’s treatment than I did at the start. Radiology gave my neck a suntan you wouldn’t believe! I can only assume that I was just very lucky. Things were detected in time, removed and the area treated. I had a session of Radio-iodine treatment as a ‘mopping-up’ measure, which involved me taking a tablet brought to me on a trolley and encased in a very heavy lead container. This is one of the ‘interesting times’ I mentioned. Cool, maybe I would glow in the dark. Apparently, some people thought they did but it was just the LED on the fire detector in the bathroom that caused that eerie effect when the light was turned off. Oh well, no superpowers then. After over a year of treatments and with nothing further, apart from check-ups, on the horizon, we decided it was time to go back to the aligners and I finally moved on to number 43. As always, appointments at SmileLux, were something to be looked forward to rather than something to feel trepidation about. It meant getting the next set in the number sequence. Once again, I was a person and treated almost as a family member. It was never anywhere to be afraid of going. Aligner numbers started to rise again and today I finally handed in number 50 along with much smiling and, a real surprise, a bottle of champagne and a congratulations card presented to me by the SmileLux team. I was always a bit self-conscious about my teeth, particularly the front ones at the top as they were quite V-shaped. As a child I recall my mother telling me that I had ‘gravestone’ teeth, as they tilted over in every direction. It was a bit of a joke and treatments of the type I had just completed simply weren’t available or just not an option. I lived with my teeth for 65 years, a time I thought to be far too long to do anything about it, but I was proven to be wrong. Two years, 50 aligners, with a bit of a gap for interesting things to happen, and I couldn’t be happier. Was it worth it? Yes! Undoubtedly. And cancer? Well, I have my regular check-ups and the ‘C’ word (Cured) won’t officially be used for a few more years, but it all looks very good. Just like my teeth. Thank you, guys. The best! Recommended by my regular dental surgery in Bedford.

Center Of Dental Expertise

Rating from 3 Reviews I could not be happier with my decision!Zenia, UK, 21 Jan 17

Having gone to several orthodontists for an initial review, some even proposing teeth removal to alleviate overcrowding and allow space, I went with Dr. Julia as she was professional, approachable and listened to my concerns. I went with the Forestadent Lingual option on both arches as I work in a client-facing environment and am a little vain and couldn't bear the thought of a mouth full of metal. I could not be happier with my decision! Initial treatment time was estimated 12-18 months but my mouth is transformed (!) within 7 months - and I got my braces off last week! 7 months!! As You would expect; there were obviously some down points but these were absolutely minimal. Having to eliminate hard foods like apples and carrots, Additionally, I was lisping the first few weeks of wearing the braces, to much amusement of my partner but you just have to get used to that and keep your eyes on the price. 7 months is really nothing in the grand scheme of things - I just cannot believe I get to spend my 30th birthday with a big grin on my face!!! Thanks Dr. Julia. Lovely surroundings - there is such a great feel in both Ekali and Melissia, both clinics are light and airy, benefitting from modern interior. All staff I came into contact with were smiling, helpful and really nice. I travelled from northern Europe for this clinic, it really is worth it.

Lingual Braces £706 - £4410
Treatment with lingual braces, 2d or 3d! Lingual (hidden) braces are a special type of orthodontic braces fitted to the back surfaces of the teeth. They look like traditional metal braces with wires but they are not that visible from the front. As they are not easily noticed by others, lingual braces are also referred as ‘hidden braces’. Lingual dental braces are more expensive than traditional metal braces and require a specially trained orthodontist to the specific type of braces.

Cathedral Dental Clinic

029 2009 1531 Cardiff, UK
Rating from 10 Reviews Before I agreed to anything, she made sure I was fully aware of what the procedure would entailRebecca, UK, 13 Mar 18

A friend of mine recommended this dental practice, so I chose them for my lingual braces. I’ve already had the braces fitted and it was worth the price. I actually ended up paying less here than I would have at my regular dentist. There were no additional costs after we agreed on the final package. Cathedral Dental was very good. The facilities were clean and well-run. My dentist was also really nice and she explained it all. Before I agreed to anything, she made sure I was fully aware of what the procedure would entail (which was reassuring). I still go back for follow-ups these days, and everything’s going well.

Dental Solutions

01925 321856 Lymm, UK
Rating from 59 Reviews Totally professional.Brian, UK, 29 Nov 16

Gavin became my dentist way back when he took over the Padgate Dental Practice. Due to being a tooth grinder, it was soon obvious that to avoid losing my teeth I required 12 crowns and the treatment went great. So when Gavin moved to Lymm, I was more than happy to travel from the north side of Warrington to stay a patient of his. Due to dental infections I now have two implants both done by Richard, and have, due to another infection recently lost a crown and the root which it was on. Just successfully completed treatment to have two crowns fitted to existing implant, brilliant. All the staff, Gavin, Richard, Hygienists, Dental Nurses and Reception Staff are all totally professional, extremely polite and reduce any trauma one may feel about dental visits to a minimum if not eliminate it. Though now approaching 80 I will only be too happy to keep travelling to Lymm as long as I am able. Can't say more than that, thanks to all at Dental Solutions.

Stoke Bishop Dental Centre

Rating from 3 Reviews The best part was that the procedure was painlessAnonymous, bristol, 06 Mar 18

I had a root canal done at Stoke Bishop. The price was the deciding factor for me here. In all honesty, I still think it was too much money, but compared to some other clinics, it was worth it. There were no additional costs. The clinic is very good and well-organized. The best part was that the procedure was painless (which is always a plus for a dentist appointment!). I had a check-up seven weeks after the root canal and didn’t pay for this (it was included in the initial cost). Everything was great.
