I had revision surgery by Dr Tahir Oruc. I originally wanted a gastric sleeve and knew the surgery was risky and when I had questions he answered them really quickly within 10 minutes of messaging Afef. He was so honest and he wouldn’t take risks with my health which made me feel safe. I had my mini gastric bypass on 6th November and have so far lost a stone. He did say I wouldn’t lose as quickly as a sleeve but would be a steady loss which is good. Afef was a little gem she kept my mum company and we had a couple of nights out prior to us coming back to the UK. I am a midwife in England so am probably more observant of the care given but could not have asked for better care with Dr Tahir. Thank you to everyone who cared for me and my mum. Nothing was too much trouble.

I am now 3 weeks post-op, and I must say I am very happy and pleased with my results. Dr. Ismet was my surgeon, and Sezen helped me along the way. Both of them are amazing people. Dr. Ismet looked after me very well before and after surgery, a thorough health check was done. I was also picked up from the airport and brought back for my appointments. The hospital staff were lovely and took great care of my travel companion. 3 weeks post-op, I have already lost 1 stone, 8 and a half pounds so far. If you are in search of a surgeon for your operation Dr. Ismet is your doctor.

As the stomach volume gets smaller, the person is sated with smaller portions and as the person’s appetite decreases, the person becomes a healthier individual by losing weight in a short time without suffering.Gastric sleeve surgery is performed with a closed method, that is without making large incisions in the abdominal region. The closed method allows the person to stand up and walk shortly after the surgery and perform daily activities by oneself. The operation takes about an hour. The leak test is performed on the second postoperative day. If no problems are detected in this test, the patient will be discharged on the same day with a diet list prepared by the dietitian.

Gastric by-pass surgery is a method that not only limits the intake of food but also reduces the absorption of food. It is still the most common type of combined surgeries. In this operation, the upper part of the stomach is reduced to about 30-50 cc. In the second stage, a portion of the small intestine is brought into this small gastric pouch and then joined together. With this method, almost 80% of the stomach is disabled, and patients get a feeling of satiety quickly with much smaller portions. At the same time, some part of the absorption of nutrients is prevented. After this surgery, the food we eat passes directly to the ileum which is the 2nd part of our small intestine, so various hormones are secreted much more and these hormones cause more insuliin hormone to be released from our pancreas gland. Therefore, gastric by-pass surgery is more preferred in patients with obesity and Type 2 Diabetes. Gastric by-pass surgery is performed with closed method. The operation lasts for about two hours and the patient can stand up at the 4th hour after the surgery to meet his own needs. After this operation, the patient is kept under observation in the hospital for about 3 days and drug treatment is organized on the 3rd day and the patient leaves hospital to continue his daily life with the support of a dietician.
