About Anne McGuinness Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a fully qualified Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist and work with adult clients on a wide range of issues with a specialization in trauma recovery.
I trained at the Tivoli Institute in Dublin and did a 4 year professional training there.
My work is client centred, sensitive to the differing needs of each individual client and privileges the integrity and genuineness of the therapeutic relationship as a principle factor in bringing about therapeutic change for the client.
In addition to trauma I have a particular interest in issues of low self esteem, depression and anxiety. bereavement and loss, difficulties in relationships, the impact of growing up in a family affected by addiction or mental health issues and how in all these areas living with greater ease and satisfaction can be supported.
I am also a fully qualified Feldenkrais Practitioner - a somatic therapy and self-awareness enhancing approach - that is hugely helpful in reducing the impact of stress in the body. Where that is useful and helpful to my counselling / psychotherapy clients I integrate into my work with them an attention to body focused on reducing the cost in body stress of emotional overload or trauma and on improving overall physical well- being.
Before qualifying as a Counsellor/ Psychotherapist I worked for 12 years as a voluntary Bereavement Counsellor with the Bereavement Counselling Service.
