Hello, My name is Shelly MacSweeney. I hope I can help you. I know that choosing a therapist can be daunting. Please know that I understand. There are so many therapists and types of therapy, it’s hard to know which will suit you best. Taking the first step on the therapeutic journey is a brave one. Taken together with your therapist, this journey should leave you feeling empowered to manage whatever life throws at you. I work with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, self-harm, suicidal ideation, work-life balance, self-worth, relationship issues, sexuality issues, LGBTQI+ friendly and trauma (both PTSD and Complex PTSD). I have personal and professional experience in a variety of pregnancy-related issues including birth trauma and matresence (the transition to motherhood), pre and support, fertility issues, adoption, post-natal depression, and miscarriage. I have a particular interest in childhood emotional neglect and developmental trauma. With the right support, deep wounds from childhood can be healed. I provide professional, warm and respectful support for individuals 18 years and over through one-to-one sessions. I am also available for online sessions. I work from a humanistic, integrative, psychodynamic, CBT, person-centred, psychoeducational perspective. So what does that mean? Well no two people are the same so I use different approaches depending on each client and their personal needs. The foundation

Psychotherapy and Couple Counselling - Psychotherapy Clinic in Ireland

Psychotherapy and Couple Counselling

17 Margaret Place, Bath Avenue, Dublin 4, D04 T58
Lisa has been working for over ten years with couples and individuals who are experiencing relationship difficulties including communication and dealing with conflict, infidelity, stress and stressful lifestyles that are affecting their relationship, sexual intimacy, domestic violence, parenting and growing apart.  Some relationships will come to an end and this may be because, for example, the couple have grown apart or that there has been an infidelity, etc and they need help to deal with the emotional and practical aspects of this decision. Separation is life changing and is usually accompanied by upsetting feelings (either leading up to the separation or afterwards).  Although natural, these feelings can be very unsettling regardless of whether you were the one to leave or the one who was left behind.  She also has considerable experience working with second relationships and step families, helping clients to understand better the complexities of this unique family dynamic.   Lisa also works with clients who are struggling with stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and loss as well as dealing with the impact of surviving child sexual abuse.  She is client-focused and works collaboratively with clients using an integrative approach. Her warm empathic style provides a supportive environment so that clients can explore and uncover blocks that may be affecting their overall happiness and help them find better ways to deal with their problems.  Lisa traine

Psychotherapist Consultation
All forms of psychological suffering are addressed. These include: Anxiety, panic-disorders, depression, chronic pain, bi-polar disorder bereavement, bulimia, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress, addiction, sexuality and paranoid schizophrenia. Treatment provides the time and space to speak about oneself beyond a diagnosis and to speak about what matters most in a non-judgemental and safe environment. Low rates are available for students, those who are in financial difficulty and in other certain circumstances. Therefore there are no fixed rates. All rates are negotiated in the first consultation.
Counselling
Counselling is on a one to one basis and it differs from psychotherapy in duration. Counselling is short term, focusing on the clients current personal difficulties and sessions tend to be once a week for fifty minutes. Psychotherapy is for those who wish to understand their current distress through a deeper investigation. Therefore there is no way to predict how long a client may attend and sessions may continue for a few weeks, months or a number of years.
