Connecting Mindfully (counselling & psychotherapy) - Psychotherapy Clinic in Ireland

When something in your life is not how you'd like it to be, or when you're looking for help and support for something that you're going through; perhaps a life event, a particular concern or maybe problems with relationships, at home, in school or at work. Maybe you are experiencing feelings of anxiety, frustration, fear, sadness or other emotions.  Stress can be a part of this.  Counselling can help you to better understand what might be going on for you, and to find ways to effectively manage feelings, thoughts or worries.  My experience is that clients come to counselling because they want something in their life to be different. I appreciate that it's often not easy to come to counselling. I welcome clients with warmth and openness, and a non-judgemental listening ear. I am a Person-Centred Therapist and I use ACT, CBT and Choice Theory to help clients work through an issue or to help them shine a new light on an area of their life that is not currently how they would like it to be. Sometimes what we need is to be listened to and heard.  Coming to see a therapist is a brave step towards getting support.  Allowing yourself to talk about and express what you are experiencing might be what you need at this time.  We often don't 'press pause' in our lives, we often don't give ourselves the time or space to check in with ourselves. Counselling. Brenda is super smart, kind and empathetic. She knows just when to stretch me, when to sit back and wait for me to come to my own conclusion. I've really benefited from our sessions and taken away so many tools that I can apply in every aspect of my life. In particular, how to manage my anxiety and low self-esteem. Have recommended Brenda to a number of friends.

Counselling up to €75
Counselling works with more surface level issues like day to day difficulties and helps to focus on the issues that arise in your present life.  The difference between Psychotherapy & Counselling is that Psychotherapy works at a deeper level, looking at past traumas & child hood issues.  Counselling works more in the present with issues in day to day living. The communication is excellent, same for the managementBianca, Ireland, 29 11 23

I can't recommend this place enough! I had my ADHD assesment done here and the efficiency and professionalism is top notch!! I was waiting for an appointment at a different clinic for over 6 months and my GP referred me to Zak Powers instead. I got scheduled right away and had my appointment only a couple of days after contacting the clinic. The communication is excellent, same for the management. 10/10!

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive therapy seeks to help the client overcome difficulties by identifying and changing there thinking errors, behaviour, and emotions. This involves helping patients develop skills to change beliefs, identifying thinking errors and changing behaviours. Treatment is based the collaboration between the client and the therapist. Once those thoughts have been challenged, your feelings are easier to change. I believe that most people can overcome any emotional disability by ‘Working harder’. So be prepared for some homework, as C.B.T does require you the client to record your progress and challenge your behaviour in between sessions. But it’s not just about working harder; I will help you to ‘work clever’. The techniques of C.B.T will allow you to see your world from a new angle and this often brings relief and a new found ability to change behaviour that up until now, you may have felt would never change.
Young adult Psychotherapy
What is psychotherapy? Psychotherapy is the treatment of psychological, emotional, or behavior disorders through the communications between the client and a therapist. The goal of therapy is to establish a central relationship of trust in which the client or patient can feel free to express personal thoughts and emotions and thus gain insight into his condition and generally share in the healing power of words. (Britannica) Will it work for me? Many people feel a great deal of benefit from psychotherapy, some even after comparatively few meetings. Like any other treatment or life experience, psychotherapy may not be suitable for everyone. Each individual has to make up their own mind about whether therapy is helpful for them. Clinical experience shows that if you are motivated and set yourself realistic goals, psychotherapy is likely to be of benefit. How long will it take? The length of treatment will be determined by what you are offered following assessment. How often are the sessions? Most psychotherapy is once weekly, although sometimes client’s circumstances won’t allow for this, so an alternative arrangement will be made. How long does each session last? Individual psychotherapy sessions normally last fifty minutes. How much does it cost? A one on one session costs E85.00. What benefit should I feel afterwards? Research has shown that psychotherapy is effective in reducing symptoms, improving relationships and self esteem. However, as each person is an individual it is difficult to generalize at the beginning as to which benefits a person may feel. The exploration and the journey is often as important as the goal. Does it usually work? A great deal of research has been done which shows C.B.T to be effective. However, it only works as a catalyst with the person undergoing treatment. This means that in order for therapy to be effective, the "work" is not done to you - but by you and with you.Can I stop if I feel its not working? It is always possible to leav

I felt very supported in resolving my issues for myselfCiara, Ireland, 11 10 20

I would highly recommend Renata, her approach helped me back on my feet after a tough patch and I feel like a new, wiser, more awake person! I came to Renata after I had had other sessions with other counsellors/psychologist and I just didn't click with them. I had just had an experience in my life that left me overwhelmed and lost. After 6 months with Renata I was solidly back on my feet and I still check in now to look after my mental health. I leave all the interactions we have felt more aware and more motivated, I cry, I learn and I laugh in each session. Renata has a very gentle approach but she gets deep to the root of problems and offers valuable, practical solutions to work through them, I felt very supported in resolving my issues for myself! I would highly recommend to anyone who feels a bit lost and doesn't know where to start!

Mary Hamill Counselling & Psychotherapy Templeogue

Orwell Park, Templeogue, Dublin 6w, 6w
Qualified support and treatment for all areas of psychological distress.  All clients are guaranteed confidentiality, compassion and a non-judgemental space.  I work on a One-to-One basis within a therapeutic relationship where both client and therapist interact as equals.  I provide both short-term and long-term therapy, as required.Everyday life events can sometimes cause unforeseen difficulties.   A focused, short-term therapy can provide support and a fresh perspective to help understand and cope with the impact of life changes.Long-term therapy provides an opportunity to address more enduring or repetitive problems that impact on our ability to thrive.  These often arise from unconscious processes and require the presence of another to bring to our awareness for resolution to occur. I qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapist from DBS with a BA(Hons).   This degree included a range of psychotherapies that allow me to tailor fit the therapy to meet the need of each individual.  Theoretical approaches included CBT, Person-centered, Attachment & Loss, Trauma & Childhood Trauma, Psychodynamics, Existential and Family Systems. Therapy is available for the following:Anxiety and GADDepressionBereavementFamily relationshipsBorderline Personality DisorderCommunicationsAbuse including Sexual AbuseTraumaPTSDUnresolved Childhood IssuesMary Hamill is a fully accredited psychotherapist and member of ICP, IAHIP & IACP.

Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to better understand ourselves and how we live.  It can be the difference between surviving and thriving. Integrative psychotherapy does not try to fit the client into one type of therapy as it utilises many different therapies and can tailor-fit the therapy to the individual needs of each person.
