Welcome to my page
Contemplating psychotherapy can be daunting, especially as there is so much information out there nowadays, not to mention all the different types of therapy to choose from. Finding someone you feel at ease with and who you feel is competent for your needs is important. Psychotherapy is not a sign of weakness or inadequacy; it’s embraced by all works of life for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes a short burst is all that’s required, at other times on-going support is useful.
Life events and experiences mean that we can fall on challenging times, sometimes we need a third party to help navigate the way.
About Me
Affiliated with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP). I am educated to master’s level in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold a distinction Dip in Counselling & Psychotherapy as well as further certificates in general counselling, bereavement grief and loss, child and adolescent counselling as well as play therapy.
Pluralism is a therapeutic modality which appreciates the many different therapeutic options available and aims to offer you what you want, when you want it. My practice is informed by research as well. I am a researcher myself and am always looking to develop my skills and knowledge. I hold additional certificates/diplomas in; integrative psychotherapy, bereavement grief and loss, child play therapy and adolescent training. My research speciality is the integration of spiritual experiences and I have also published several articles on mental health and well-being.
How I work
This is your therapy, your way. I work collaboratively with you, paying close attention to your aims and preferences. I will bring my industry expertise, skills and knowledge and you will contribute your strengths and resources so that we can work in tandem to find the right way forward for you. I encourage you to feedback on the therapy process and evaluate your progress. Value for money applies to healthcare too! What’s most important is that you get an approach that meets your needs and works. If you’re not sure what you want, don’t worry we’ll figure it out together. I work with individual adults, couples and adolescents (signed parental consent required), addressing a wide range of issues including but not limited to: Stress and general problems in living, bereavement (specialist training and experience in bereavement through suicide), trauma including PTSD, abuse (sexual, psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual), low self-esteem and low confidence, loss of meaning, hopelessness, overwhelm, panic and confusion, bullying, spiritual emergencies and spiritual crises, sexuality and identity crises, loss of motivation, relationship issues, suicidality and self-harm, addiction and compulsive behaviours, coping with life transition, illness. It’s my privilege to embark on this personal journey with you; a process of self-knowledge, healing, recovery and empowerment.
