About PHYSIO 1 TO 1

Rob Butler

Biography:
BSc (hons) PGDip MCSP MMACP Rob trained as a physiotherapist for four years at Kings College London qualifying with honours in 1995. He began his career in Mayday University Hospital where he gained experience in all areas of physiotherapy before being promoted to a Senior physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal and sports injuries. Rob then went to Australia to work as a Senior physiotherapist in both New South Wales and Queensland. On return in 2000 he worked for North Surrey PCT where he was promoted to a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist working alongside consultant surgeons for three years before leaving to work in the private sector following the birth of his son in 2004. Rob completed post graduate training in manipulative physiotherapy in 2004 gaining his MMACP registration and graduating with a postgraduate diploma in manipulative physiotherapy from Brighton University. Rob enjoys spending his spare time training for triathlons and adventure races (orienteering whilst running, cycling and kayaking). He also enjoys rock climbing and his greatest achievement was running the Flora London Marathon in 2001 which he hopes to repeat again very soon. Jo Butler

Biography:
BSc (hons) MSc MCSP Jo trained as a physiotherapist for four years at Kings College London qualifying with honours in 1995. Jo has always had a particular interest in neurology and after gaining experience in other areas of physiotherapy she soon specialised in neurology. As a senior neurological physiotherapist at Mayday University Hospital, Jo worked alongside Bobath Tutors, herself training in the Bobath approach. Whilst working in Australia Jo learnt more about the Motor Relearning approach popular in the southern hemisphere and now favours an eclectic approach to rehabilitation. Jo has worked for the last five years as a Clinical Specialist in neurorehabilitation at The Bradley Unit in Woking. The Bradley Unit is a specialised neuro-rehabilitation unit providing multi-disciplinary rehabilitation and support for people following Strokes, Head Injuries, Spinal Injuries and long term conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis. In this post Jo trained in the use of Functional Electrical Stimulation setting up a local NHS service in Surrey. Jo completed a post-graduate certificate in Posture Management in 2001 at Oxford Radcliffe University. She then completed a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Science at Southampton University in 2004. Jo also has experience working as an external lecturer at Southampton University and has spoken at a number of conferences.
