Bodybalance Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic provides physiotherapy and sports massage services to Hertfordshire and North London. Our team of highly skilled and experienced clinicians understand your needs and have the knowledge to help you manage your injury, reduce your pain and return you to your optimal level of activity.

We specialise in sports and sports-related injuries, but are also able to help you with non-sports related injuries as well. Through our holistic approach we will tailor our treatment to your individual goals and specific requirements, working with you to optimise your recovery and prevent recurrence.

  • Eric Clarke is an Australian trained Sports Physiotherapist with 13 years of experience. He completed his undergraduate physiotherapy training at the University of Sydney in 1999 and attained a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in 2006. His special interest area is lower limb injuries to the hip, knee and ankle. Eric is a titled APA Sports Physiotherapist, an Australian accreditation which recognises his high level of sports specific experience and expertise. He has been accredited with the equivalent award here in the UK: Gold level Member of the ACPSM.
  • Eric’s has a wealth of experience with elite sport at international levels. He has worked with elite Australian and British athletes across a variety of sports; including sailing, rugby, triathlon, basketball, athletics, rowing, cycling, boxing and martial arts.
  • Prior to working in the UK, he worked at the Sports Clinic at Sydney University where he was a team physiotherapist with Sydney University Football Club as they won 2 NSW Rugby premierships
  • At the Beijing Olympics in 2008, he was part of the Australian Olympic Sailing Team, helping their sailors as they won 2 Gold medals and 1 Silver. In 2012, his Olympic experience will continue as he has been accepted as a volunteer physiotherapist to work in the Athlete’s Village. Eric is also the physiotherapist for Artemis Racing, the Swedish entrant in the 34th Americas Cup. He is working with them at their training base in Valencia, Spain, and at various regatta venues around the globe as they prepare to challenge for the Cup in San Francisco in 2013.
  • He practices with an evidence based approach; using hands-on techniques (including mobilisation and manipulation, massage and acupuncture when appropriate) and exercise prescription. His diagnostic skills and understanding of biomechanics and the way the body works as a whole underlines a philosophy of addressing the cause a priority.
  • Eric lives in Hertfordshire with his English wife and their 2 young children. When not busy with work and family, he likes to cycle and swim. Old rugby injuries prevent him from running these days, but he has proudly completed 3 marathons in the past with a PB of 3hrs 17mins.

George Labor – Sports Physiotherapist

  • Currently completing his MSc in Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation
  • Having already completed a BSc in Sports Rehabilitation and Sports Science from St Mary’s University, George Labor went on to achieve a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of East London in 2006. He is currently also studying for a Masters in Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation at the University of Hertfordshire and recently completed a Diploma in orthopaedic Medicine.
  • After several years in the NHS, George began to specialise in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. He joined the team at Bodybalance in a part time capacity in early 2011 before becoming a full time member of our team in 2012.
  • George practices the latest evidence based techniques including mobilisations, manipulations, soft tissue work and specific exercise prescription.
  • George has significant experience with sports injuries across a wide variety of both team and individual sports. He spent a season as 1st team physiotherapist at the semi-pro rugby league club, London Skolars, and works with the London Broncos Rugby Academy. In 2011 he supported a group of London-based cyclists on a charity ride from London – Nice in 2011, acting as both physiotherapist and soigneur.
  • He is the Physiotherapist for the Hertfordshire Mavericks Youth netball squad and helps treat the swimmers from Hatfield swimming club. George is looking forward to being part of the London 2012 Olympics as a volunteer physiotherapist.
  • When he finds a spare moment amongst all of his physiotherapy related activities, George enjoys spending time at home with his wife and son. He used to be a useful rugby and hockey player but settles for the occasional gym session these days.

  • Worked at World University Games and with GB bobsleigh team
  • HPC registered as Katherine Soper Katherine (known as Kessie) Soper qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 after graduating with first class honours from the University of Southampton. In early 2013 she will complete her MSc in Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation from the University of Hertfordshire.
  • Kessie joined Bodybalance in 2011 after being selected for a scholarship position provided by Bodybalance in conjunction with the nationally funded Talented Athlete Support Scheme (TASS). Being a TASS physiotherapist involves working with some of the UK’s brightest and most talented athletes; supporting them as they develop to become future Olympians and Paralympians – a role which Kessie is excelling at. Prior to this, Kessie worked both in NHS and in private settings; developing her skills and gaining vast experience in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy.
  • She is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine and is working towards Silver level accreditation through their CPD pathway. Kessie has additional qualifications in acupuncture and the treatment of dizziness and vestibular problems.
  • Kessie has experience in elite sport at both UK and at major international events; in 2007 she travelled with the British team to the World University Games in Bangkok and in 2012 travelled with the GB team to the World Bobsleigh Championships in Lake Placid, USA. Kessie has worked at Southampton FC, Hampshire FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence and Havant Hockey Club, as well as providing cover at the Bedford International Games and the London Marathon. Kessie works with the British University and Colleges Sport’s domestic programme and is the physiotherapist for the Hertfordshire Mavericks Superleague netball team.
  • Kessie is excited about the upcoming London 2012 Olympics and is very much looking forward to the being involved as a host nation volunteer physiotherapist.
  • Outside of work, she enjoys running, gym and playing hockey. She is always keen to pursue a sporting challenge; some of her previous achievements include running the London Marathon and swimming across the Solent.
