Biography:
Aileen qualified as a physiotherapist 20 years ago, initially completing varied rotations at NHS teaching hospitals and various sports injury clinics, before returning to her country of birth Kenya.  In Kenya Aileen developed and managed 2 physiotherapy clinics, alongside providing physiotherapy to the National Kenyan Rugby 7’s squad at numerous international competitions.
Aileen has worked with the National Cricket Academy providing physio to the England under 19’s during their tour of Malaysia.  She also worked within a medical team to the GB canoe slalom team, travelling to many major competitions, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Aileen is also very interested injury risk assessment and management in sport is currently the lead researcher for the England Rugby Injury Audit 2007-2011 and is involved with IRB injury surveillance studies.  Aileen specially enjoys rugby and as lead physiotherapist of the medical team to the Loughborough Students Rugby Union Football Club endeavours to provide comprehensive medical provision throughout the pre-season and in-season periods.

Biography:
Jo qualified as a physiotherapist 15 years ago, initially completing varied rotations in a big NHS teaching hospital before specialising in orthopaedics and rehabilitation. After travelling and working in Australia she has been involved in sports medicine for the past 6 years.
Through her own playing career Jo developed a special interest in hockey and for a number of years has been the lead therapist for men and women’s National League hockey teams at Loughborough University, maintaining professional links with England Hockey and the National Performance Centre (NPC). She has also worked with 2 hockey clubs that have competed in European Championships (indoor and outdoor).
Jo also enjoys working with a range of different sports, including in particular track and field athletes, some of whom who have attended the World Championships. Jo regularly provides physiotherapy at events such as Loughborough International Athletics (LIA). As well as elite level athletes and providing cover for the English Institute of Sport (EIS), Jo also works with clients from all walks of life, helping them to achieve their particular goals through assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and appropriate advice.
Jo uses a wide variety of treatment modalities, including joint and soft tissue mobilisation, myofascial release and acupuncture.

Ms Ruth Atkinson

Biography:
She has over 20 years experience practicing in musculoskeletal medicine and working with individuals from a variety of sports from recreational to world class performance squads. She is currently working with British Gymnastics and the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball, providing GB squads with physiotherapy during training camps and at British, European and World Championships. She has a keen interest in gymnastics in particular, having personal experience of competing at a national level in both gymnastics and diving. She also enjoys working with Loughborough MCCU cricket squad and developing professional links with the ECB, with a strong focus on injury risk management. Ruth uses a variety of treatment modalities including joint and tissue mobilisation, myofascial release and acupuncture.
