Laura Tilson

Biography:

Laura Tilson graduated from the BSO with a Master’s Degree in Osteopathy. During that time she researched the role of osteopathy for terminally ill patients, and her dissertation was awarded one of the top grades. She presented her findings at the Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Physiotherapy Conference in 2010.

Laura has worked in clinics in London, Essex and Surrey. She has completed paediatric training at the Osteopathic Centre for Children, working in a busy children’s clinic for two years. As part of this training she has worked in the neonatal intensive care wards in three London hospitals. Laura uses a treatment technique commonly called cranial osteopathy. It is extremely gentle and because of this it can be effective for the most vulnerable of patients.

Before deciding to be an osteopath, Laura worked in a variety of settings, including a care home for the elderly and a Mental Healthcare ward in Wiltshire. Here she saw the need for more involvement of osteopaths in care settings to assist patients with restricted mobility.

As part of her travels Laura volunteered in a physiotherapy department in a hospital in Ghana. She shadowed a physiotherapist treating trauma, burns and intensive care patients and witnessed how beneficial manual therapy and rehabilitation can be in the acute phase of an injury.

Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Osteopathy from The British School of Osteopathy
