Barnet Orthodontic Practice

Barnet Orthodontic Practice was established in 1974 by my mother, Dr Sarla Coonar and in 2005 the practice was taken over by myself. I grew up in the Barnet area, and attended the Haberdasher’s Aske’s School for Girls, Elstree. I graduated in Dentistry from University College Hospital, London in 1990, 1991-1992 Awarded a Medical Research Council Fellowship. 1991-1992 MSc. in Mineralised Tissue Biology (Univ. of London). In 1994, I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. 1996-1999 Post graduate training in Orthodontics at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute, London. 1998 MSc. in Orthodontics (Univ. of London) 1999 Membership in Orthodontics (Royal College of Surgeons of England). 1999 Accredited to the Orthodontic specialist’s register of the General Dental Council. I am a member of the British Orthodontic Society and British Dental Association.

Hi, I'm Ummel and I'm the Senior Administrator at Barnet Orthodontic Practice. I previously worked in a general medical practice and I also have a background in accountancy. I'm responsible for the day to day running of the Practice. I like to have a very 'hands-on' approach and I'm closely involved with the running of reception, treatment co-ordination and patient liaison. I look after Health and Safety too. I love being involved in all aspects of practice administration as this enables me to assist our patients in their journey through orthodontic treatment.

My name's Raksha and I work as a Receptionist and Treatment Co-ordinator. I joined Barnet Orthodontic Practice in November 2012 and my role is to look after all our lovely patients in our busy and energetic practice waiting area. As a Treatment Coordinator I also get to explain various treatment plans in further detail once they've been seen by Dr. Coonar or Dr. Qureshi. This is always a pleasure as it makes everything really clear for all our patients. I joined the Barnet Orthodontic Practice team in November and I really enjoy working here. The practice is full of life and I get the opportunity to meet new and interesting people everyday. I love my role and waking up to new day everyday.
