About St Michael's Orthodontics Ltd

This multi-award winning specialist orthodontic clinic located in Wakefield, Yorkshire produces excellent orthodontic results and aims to increase the confidence of patients by improving their smiles. We are proud winners of Best Orthodontic Practice UK (Private Dentistry Awards) Best Dental Team (Dentistry Awards) and winners of 3 awards at the Aesthetic Dental Awards 2013. Our orthodontist, Catherine McCanny was awarded the Best Overall Aesthetic Dentist UK.

The results produced by the team for children and adult patients transforms the appearance of their smile and increases their confidence. Private patients and eligible patients on the NHS are seen at the clinic. Services offered for private patients are fitting aesthetic (tooth coloured)  braces and aligners (Invisalign)  and fitting retainers to maintain the position of corrected teeth. When appropriate, we also carry out tooth whitening.

Graduated from Dental School at Queen’s University Belfast in 1988. She commenced her specialist training in Orthodontics at Leeds Dental Institute in 1993. After this she teamed up with her partner, now husband, Joe, to build and develop St. Michael’s Dental Practice and St. Michael’s Orthodontics Ltd. which opened in 1998. She gained her specialist qualification in 1996 and is currently registered on the specialist list for Orthodontists at the General Dental Council

Graduated from Leeds Dental Institute in 1989. Joined the team at St Michaels as an Orthodontic Therapist, having worked in Dentistry for over 12 years. She gained her National Certificate in Dental Nursing in 1999 from Leeds Dental Institute. She then completed her Orthodontic Nursing qualification in 2005. She has subsequently trained as an Orthodontic Therapist at Leeds Dental Institute and Seacroft Hospital and gained her Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from the Royal College of Surgeons, England in 2010.
