Catherine has been an associate at Carlton House Dental Practice for almost eight years, and is our longest serving dental practitioner. She is a popular choice with patients due to her friendly, approachable manner and conscientious approach to dentistry.
After qualifying from Leeds University in 2004 with a distinction in Paediatric Dentistry, Catherine went on to win the 2005 Yorkshire VDP award.
Catherine is constantly working to update and improve her skills in order to provide the highest standards of care. Amongst her many awards and achievements, Catherine is accredited by SAAD in London (for sedation). She has completed aesthetic composite filling courses in Lake Como, Italy and King’s College, London; and has undergone advanced postgraduate training in Cosmetic and Restorative dentistry at the renowned St Ann’s Dental Clinic in Manchester with Dr Paul Tipton.
Catherine is also certified by the American Academy of Dentistry and International Partnership for Study of Occlusion (IPSO) for the treatment of Jaw pain and headaches caused by bite problems, having trained with UK and US occlusion gurus Dr Roy Higson and Dr John Bassett.
Catherine has a special interest in placing dental implants. She completed her Certificate in Multisystem Implantology with Professor Cemal Ucer in 2011 and is now finishing her Advanced Practical Certificate in Implantology with Dr Stephen Garner at Dentale Clinic in Shrewsbury.
She is a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and Association for Dental Implantology (ADI).
Dr. Lightowler also has an interest in treating anxious patients. Catherine holds a Diploma in Conscious Sedation from Newcastle University and accepts referrals for patients who require treatment under RA or IV sedation.
