Private Patients Welcome

Dr Myles Dakin

Job Title:
  Principal Dentist
  General Dentistry, Prosthodontics
I qualified from Guy’s Hospital, London in 1989. Since then, I’ve continued to broaden both my skills and qualifications as a dental surgeon, primarily specialising in Prosthodontics, which is the rebuilding of damaged teeth and the replacement of missing teeth. My main role is to give an overview of treatments for patients with more complicated dental problems. But, I also like to work as a general dentist.
My working career began in 1990, when I was appointed House Officer in Prosthodontics at Guy’s Hospital. From that point onwards, I began to develop my skills in dental surgery at a range of hospitals across England. In 1993, I passed the primary fellowship examination at the Royal College of Surgeons and then moved to Texas. I obtained a Masters in Science and a Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics from the University of Texas, where I also spent three years as a resident and part-time teacher. During this time, I was granted a Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons and I was also admitted to the Specialist Register (UK) as a Prosthodontist.
Three years later, I returned to Blighty and started working for Guy’s Hospital again – this time as a Clinical Demonstrator. I then started working for a Harley Street practice (where I still work to this day), before co-founding Specialist Dental Partners in 2004.

Dr Imran Khan

Job Title:
  Principal Dentist
General Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry
I qualified in dentistry in 2000, with a distinction in Dental Materials Science, from Guy’s King’s and St Thomas’ (GKT) School of Medicine, London. Since then, I’ve worked as a general dental practitioner for surgeries in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, and gained restorative and surgical experience at the Royal London Hospital and Ipswich Hospital.
As a general dentist, I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and I particularly like meeting different people every day. I believe collaboration is the only way to get the best results; this means listening to the patient and then working with the team to achieve the very best that can be achieved.
Training and development in order to keep up to date with advances in dentistry is crucial, so it’s important to keep studying. I’m a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons, and I also have a Diploma in Dental Sedation, a Certificate in Restorative Dental Practice, and I’m currently undertaking a Diploma in Restorative Dental Practice.
Alongside my academic and working career, I’ve continued to build on teaching and supervisory experience. Over the last five years, I’ve overseen undergraduate students at an emergency/acute dental care clinic; I’ve organised tutorial topics both for seminar programmes, and I’ve provided teaching and guidance for trainee dental nurses. I’ve also supervised less experienced clinicians performing sedation.
I joined Specialist Dental Partners about six months ago as a Partner, the opportunity to work alongside Myles and the team was just too good to pass up. My main role is to develop the family side of the practice, offering high-quality and reasonably priced dentistry to all patients.
