Before dental implants, we were limited in how we were able to replace missing teeth. A Denture is a removable prosthesis used to replace missing teeth. It is usually made of acrylic or combination of acrylic and metal. A partial denture is fitted to replace some missing teeth, while a complete denture is indicated when all natural teeth are missing. A good set of denture done by a good prosthodontist will help patient to eat, speak, function and often makes the patient look younger and better.At Dr. Sunil Dental Clinic, any type of denture will take 3-4 visits not more than 5 days. New denture always feels strange when placed in the mouth. It usually takes 3-4 weeks to get used to but adaptation varies according to people.

After denture is delivered to the patient, 1 or 2 check-up appointment is required to see if there is any discomforts or sore, minor adjustment will be done to make sure that patient is comfortable with the new set of denture.
Patient with denture should start eating with soft foods and food cut into small pieces. In some patient with severe bone loss and denture does not have a good grip, denture adhesive can be used to make the denture more stable.

Some patients might have gagging reflex and vomits with denture even after shorter the length of denture, then implant will be a better option.New denture many alter your speech initially. Pronouncing certain words many require practice. This problem rarely persists beyond 2 weeks.

Wisdom Tooth:

To remove the wisdom tooth, our Surgeon will open up the gum tissue over the tooth and take out any bone that is covering the tooth. Surgeon will separate the tissue connecting the tooth and then remove the tooth. Sometimes tooth will also be cut into smaller pieces to make it easier to remove.

Wisdom tooth removal usually is effective in preventing:

• Crowding of the back teeth
• A wisdom tooth getting stuck in the jaw (impacted) and never breaking through the gums.
• Red, swollen, and painful gums caused by a flap of skin around the wisdom tooth that has only partially come in.

Silver Amalgam (Per Surface)

Advances in biomaterial technology have made tooth colored fillings enter an era of absolute confidence in their physical properties as an improved alternative to metal amalgam fillings. They have become the standard of care.

There are a number of types of tooth-colored fillings. These are,
- Composite Fillings
- Glass Ionomer Fillings
- Porcelain, Artglass, Belleglass, or Composite Inlays

Similar in process to Porcelain Veneers, inlays require 2 appointments as they are fabricated in a dental laboratory. These procedures were common to overcome some of the limitations of the older generation composite materials in large cavities. Inlays have superior strength and may be indicated as an alternative to a Crown in very large cavities or fractured back teeth.

When a tooth is too damaged to support a tooth filling but not damaged enough for a dental crown, Dental Onlay falls in between dental fillings and crowns. Dental inlays or onlays are the same kind of Restoration, but they cover different proportions of the tooth. Inlays fill the space in between cusp or round edges, all the center of the tooth surface. The dental onlay works like an inlay but covers one or more cusps or the entire biting surface of the tooth. Dental onlays are made of porcelain and one more durable and usually last longer than dental fillings.

Here at Dr. Sunil Dental Clinic, the specialist prefers doing indirect onlay, by taking the impression of the teeth after the cavities are removed and then sent to our In-House lab, which takes 2-3 days to fabricate, a temporary filling will be placed and then removed when the onlay are ready to be connected on the tooth.

Tooth is made up of three layers such as enamel, dentine, and pulp (nerve & blood vessels) the inner most layer. When a tooth has deep decay, large & deep fillings, cracked or fractured due to accident or excessive wear of enamel due to grinding, there will be a sign of pulp damaged which includes pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat and cold discoloration of the tooth (very dark gray or brown), swelling, tenderness of the overlying gums or a bad taste in the mouth.

Root Canal Treatment saves the teeth that would otherwise been extracted. After the Root Canal Treatment, the tooth can function normally.

Steps involved:

At Dr. Sunil Dental Clinic, we have four Root Canal Specialist available every day. Today, Root Canal Treatment is done in one visit, maximum 2 visits.

One Visit Root Canal:

At Dr. Sunil Dental Clinic, our Root Canal Specialist can complete most of the cases in one visit, not more than 2 hours. The exceptional cases are extremely infected teeth that are complicated from the last procedures, or complex cases, will take 2 visits in the gap of 1-2 weeks. Here, before we start the Root Canal Treatment, our specialist makes sure that the case is 1 or 2 visits so that our patient can choose other options if the duration of stay is short.

Root Canal Treatment procedures are relatively comfortable and often Painless as the teeth is anaesthetized during the treatment. After the treatment, the tooth may be sensitive or tender for few days. The discomfort can be relieved by taking analgesic or pain killer.

The most important after the Root Canal Treatment is to restore the tooth properly as soon as possible. A pin (core built-up) and crown is the best solution to restore after Root Canal Treatment.

Home Bleaching (Tray and Gel Bleaching)

At Dr. Sunil Dental Clinic, we have our own bleaching gel which is a registered licenseunder Dr. Sunil. The gels have 6% concentration of hydrogen peroxide and 3ml gel (per tube). Patients can order the bleaching tray immediately after the laser whitening. It takes around 15 minutes to make a customized bleaching tray for patients from our In-House lab. Patients can continue their bleaching until they get the satisfied color.

At Dr. Sunil Dental Clinic, we have 10dental rooms which areequipped for Laser whitening and Zoom II or Cool Light whitening. Our team can treat many patients at one time. Bleaching gel has a life span of 2 years. Patients should keep the gel in the refrigerator for a better result and can always order online from our webpage.

Steps for Home Bleaching:

• Brush your teeth, floss
• Put a thin layer of gel on the front surface of the tray, top and bottom
• Place the tray gently on top of both the jaws for 15-30 minutes only
• Rinse your mouth
• Continue everyday if possible till you get satisfied result
• Do not sleep with tray and gel in your mouth

Cool blue light, Laser light, Zoom II doesn’t work well on tooth, discolored tooth (very dark gray to brown). Dr. Sunil will recommend doing Veneers or Crowns.
