82 years of age, UK Advanced driver, fit, active, blessed with a minor medical history, I attended the medical for Portugal driver's license. All was well but for eyesight which was, disappointingly, close to the edge of acceptance owing to a suspected cataract. Previous tests in the U.K. had identified early signs, but now progressive deterioration revealed.
My experience at Alvor Particular Hospital to address the problem: Tests confirmed the condition and necessity of surgery for replacing existing lenses. My overall optic capability to successfully replace the cataract lens was also tested to enable a successful surgery outcome. Such is the thorough approach to enable better eyesight in our advanced years.
