He graduated from St George's Hospital, London in 1988. He trained in Plastic Surgery in Stoke Mandeville, Salisbury, Bristol and Oxford and received further specialist training in Cosmetic Surgery during a fellowship period at the Wellington Hospital, London. He has travelled extensively abroad and undertook further subspecialist training during 2001 and 2002 in New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong, developing his specialist skills and interests. Mr Pay was granted the certificate in Higher Surgical Training and entered onto the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register after passing the National Plastic Surgery examination FRCS (Plast) in first place, gaining the McGregor Gold Medal. He is widely experienced in all aspects of Cosmetic and General Plastic Surgery procedures, especially facial and breast aesthetics as well as truncal surgery and liposculpture. He is also very experienced in skin cancer, head and neck surgery, general plastic reconstructive surgery and vascular anomalies. He has frequently lectured on all aspects of aesthetic surgery, including non-surgical interventions such as injections for wrinkle and fillers, in which he has extensive experience.
