Graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 2000. He subsequently began his plastic surgery residency training at the University of Toronto and was selected to enter the prestigious Surgeon Scientist Program in 2002 to pursue a Master’s of Science Degree at the Institute of Medical at Science at the University of Toronto. In 2004, he successfully defended his thesis on the use of biomaterials to enhance wound healing and new blood vessel growth. He completed his plastic surgery residency training at the University of Toronto in 2007. Dr. Eckhaus completed post-graduate fellowship training in Melbourne, Australia with subspecialty training in cosmetic plastic surgery, microvascular breast reconstruction, and post-bariatric body contouring surgery. In Melbourne he worked under the expert guidance of internationally renowned plastic surgeons Mr. Howard Webster, Mr. Bryan Mendelson, and Mr. Richard Bloom. Allan’s research has been published in plastic surgery journals and he has presented at many national and international meetings. Dr.Eckhaus’ interests are in breast surgery, body contouring surgery, surgery after massive weight loss and facial cosmetic surgery. He also spends a good portion of his practice on skin cancer and hand surgery.
