Laser hair removal works by destroying the base of the hair follicle which is the source of new hair growth. We deliver a short burst of light energy is delivered onto the skin surface by the laser or IPL. This light energy is absorbed by the melanin (colour pigment) in the hair converts this energy into heat. As long as the hair is in it’s growth stage, the heat will travel down the hair follicle to the root and destroy the germination centre preventing regrowth. Hair grows in cycles, which means not all hair follicles are in the growth stage at the same time. After the treatment you can expect your skin to appear red looking similar to sunburn and some swelling may occur, the skin usually returns to normal again the day after, but for some people the redness and swelling can last a few days longer, everybody skin is different. Makeup should not be applied for 48 hours after treatment, so you should be prepared for this and book your treatment when you don’t need to wear makeup the next day.
