I never used to think about enlarged pores, or even really know what they were – until I turned 50, when my own pores overnight got noticeably bigger – to the point where they became practically the only feature of my face I could see. It was awful. Trying to cover them up with foundation only accentuated them, so make- up couldn’t make me look better; quite the opposite, it made my skin look even worse. I tried using toners and moisturisers that promised to reduce my pores, but they made no difference at all. So thank the lord – and Dr Rakus - for Advatx. I underwent three monthly sessions, which were completely painless, and by the end of these my pores had shrunk so much that I’ve gone back to never even noticing them.

I've been seeing Dr Benson for many years and trust her implicitly in her skills and advice on what to do but also what not to do. Her work with muscle relaxing injections for the forehead and fillers is always subtle but effective and I don't look like I've had work done but get compliments all the time. Also, HIFU and peels have produced long-term benefits. Highly recommend it as a safe pair of hands.

Many individuals find stretch marks unsightly and would like to have something done to improve their appearance. The Dermapen™ offers an effective solution to this problem. This 30-minute treatment employs the use of micro-medical skin needling to create columns that are approximately 0.1mm in width to penetrate the skin dermis and thus allow the body to regenerate naturally and repair the skin, working in the dermis, thereby tackling the problem at its roots. Skin needling is a safe and precise procedure that does not require the removal of healthy epidermis which means that it offers a rapid healing time and does not cause any comparable pain. The procedure produces collagen layers on a scale similar to laser therapies. Types of Stretch Mark TreatmentsSkin needling using the Dermapen™ is one of the most effective available treatments for stretch marks. After an initial consultation with your practitioner, if it is agreed that you will benefit from the Dermapen™ Therapy, local anaesthetic is applied to the affected area in order to numb it; the anaesthetic is then allowed to work over the course of 30 minutes. The actual dermapen procedure takes 20-30 minutes and is virtually painless.Following the treatment, a soothing cream is applied and should continue to be applied at home for the next couple of days. For the first 24 hours post-procedure, the affected area will look red and may be slightly swollen (very similar to the appearance of mild sunburn). This is the normal expected result and is not painful. Although significant results are often seen following the first treatment, your practitioner will generally recommend between three and five treatments for optimum and long-lasting effects. This treatment is contra-indicated in the presence of active acne and if there is a tendency to form hypertrophic or keloid scars.
