About Thomas' Acupuncture Clinic

I have one of the VERY few (5-10?) acupuncture clinics in Japan, that are run by (Western) foreigners.
I am a native German, but have been for 37 years in this country and can by now look back on +30 years clinical experience.
This experience and being able to speak three languages makes me sometimes the preferable choice for "foreigners".

I had prompt relief

5 50 Acupuncturist Consultation • Paid: ¥4000

I’ve had a number of treatments for lower back pain and knee pain. After the treatments (needles and moxibustion), I had prompt relief. Thomas gave me advice on how to maintain proper posture and breathing, etc. So as to minimize having to come back (as per the motto on his web page: “It is my job to ensure that patients do not need to see me.” He was also very specific about what he considers acupuncture effective or not effective for.

I realise that there is debate over whether acupuncture is truly effective or just a placebo effect. But even if it’s a placebo, I don't care as long as it works. If you consider the who a valid authority on health care, they do in fact officially assert that acupuncture is effective for certain maladies. As one empirical researcher put it, “It shouldn’t work, but it seems to”.

If you are considering acupuncture, would like treatment from a kind and conscientious practitioner who is fluent in English (as well as Japanese and his native German). Then I can recommend Thomas's clinic without reservation. (No pun intended; he requests reservations for treatments on Sundays).

Thank you for the kind comment. It seems to depict myself in a light, I may not deserve. I am just an ordinary craftsman. Mr. O'Keefe mentioned the "placebo issue". Well over the last 3 decades I have seen a lot of controversy regarding this topic and COULD add even more to the discussion, but prefer not to do so here. It is not so much a "seeing is believing" matter than rather a "feeling (the effects) is believing". Neither feeling nor believing is "scientific", but then again the suffering of a real PERSON is not scientific either. And that is what a therapist is supposed to do: relieve the suffering of her/his patients. The fact that every therapist/therapy has his/her/its limitations is, I believe, common sense and should not need to be mentioned. Thank you.
