Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Consultation Mark Thompson Biography: I was appointed as a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge in 2006. I am in qualified in both dentistry and medicine and have also completed a MSc. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. I graduated in dental surgery (BDS) from King's College hospital, University of London in 1987. My early training as a house officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was at King's College Hospital and St George's Hospital, London. I then under took a senior house officer post in Chelmsford, Essex. In 1990 I underwent medical training at University College London. During medical school was awarded several prizes by examination. Asher Prize in Anatomy Windham Baring Prize in Pathology The Geoffrey Duveen prize in Oto-rhino-laryngology I graduated in 1996 having also completing an MSc in experimental oral pathology at the Royal London Hospital. Following general surgical training at in the Oxford deanery I passed the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) exam in 1999 an completed the Fellowship in dental surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow in 2000. My higher surgical specialist training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was initially at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and completed in the northern deanery at Middlesbrough and Sunderland. In 2004 I passed the Intercollegiate Examination in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, FRCS (OMFS). In 2005 I obtained my Completion Certificate of Specialist Training (CCST) in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and was entered on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist List in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I am also on the General Dental Council (GDC) specialist for Oral Surgery.
