What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. Dental surgeons perform bone grafting procedures to hold the implant in place for patients who do not have enough surrounding bone structure, or graft bone to help connect implants to the maxillary sinuses on either side of the nose when placing dental implants in the upper jaw.

How long does it take to fit a Dental Implant?

The time taken for inserting dental implants depends on the bone structure and needs of each individual patient. Some implant procedures take about 15 minutes while others may take up to two hours. Implant procedures are performed under local anaesthesia. Intravenous sedation is used for the comfort of anxious patients.

How long does it take to recover after getting a Dental Implant?

Recovery time after a dental implant procedure may take four to six weeks or up to 12 weeks for some patients. Patients can travel one day after the insertion of a single dental implant. Patients who require multiple dental implants or supporting surgical procedures should wait for around two weeks before travelling. They should meet the dental surgeon to get a certification of being fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

What should I do after getting a Dental Implant?

Patients should rest and avoid exertion after surgery. They should also avoid vigorously brushing their teeth or rinsing their mouth.

What are the alternatives to Dental Implants?

Alternatives to dental implants include fixed bridges and dentures.

Dental Implants
There are many advantages to dental implants, including: Improved appearance. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent. Improved speech. With poor-fitting dentures, the teeth can slip within the mouth causing you to mumble or slur your words. Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip. Improved comfort. Because they become part of you, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures. Easier eating. Sliding dentures can make chewing difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favorite foods with confidence and without pain. Improved self-esteem. Dental implants can give you back your smile and help you feel better about yourself. Improved oral health. Dental implants don't require reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. Because nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, more of your own teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health. Individual implants also allow easier access between teeth, improving oral hygiene. Durability. Implants are very durable and will last many years. With good care, many implants last a lifetime. Convenience. Removable dentures are just that; removable. Dental implants eliminate the embarrassing inconvenience of removing dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place.

I had no worries and I recommend them 100%Daniell, US, 22 11 21

I went to this dentist here in the states to get some work down a couple of years back. I got all the metal filling taken out and the holistic ones put in. I was happy with all they did for me! I recently cracked my tooth eating and went back to the same dentist. They advised I need a crown on it...so I paid 1600 for crown and X-rays and they told me to come in a week in a half. When I came got to the densist office they said we want to pull the tooth instead and also put an implant on a side tooth. I asked how Much was an implant they said between $6-8 thousand for the one tooth with separate charge for extraction. I was kinda shocked because I had already done a lot of xray and they said nothing about this.. So I began looking outside the US..I was quite hesitant at first, but I did my research and followed my intuition. I settled on smile Makeover in playa del Carmen. They picked me up from airport and took me back and forth to each appt! When I got there to the office They took xrays of my mouth. I didn't feel as though it was a step down in service, quality, or knowledge. It was a lot of Americans and Canadian in the office! Everyone was speaking different languages. All the staff was masked up and the office was spotless! After I got xrays I sat in densist chair for the consultation. They pulled up these like 3d scans of teeth. they said we definitely don't think you need an implant or the back tooth pulled. They wanted to do everything to save the integrity of my teeth... So I ended up getting a root canal and crown on back tooth. On the side tooth they cleaned it, applied some medicine and told me to see how it feels in 24 hours...if I had super sensitivity in that tooth they would do a root canal on that tooth. That side tooth felt fine the next day So they put a filing. And while they was in my mouth they filled one other tooth. I ended up spending $1100 total plus like 10 dollars for pain meds and stuff.. I always felt in control of my care. Every single thing they did the discussed with me so I had no surprises. This was part 1! After my appts, I spent the rest of the time on the beach relaxing and getting massages 🥳. Part 2 I'm going back for the full Hollywood smile in a couple of months😊 I felt super safe as a woman too! The best touch was the driving back and forth to appt! I had no worries and I recommend them 100%

Dental Implants Are The Conservative Approach To A Bridge. Dental Implants Has Its Pros & Cons Just Like Any Other Procedure. With A Dental Implant You Can Avoid To Shave Down Two Healthy Anchoring Teeth & Go With A Single Crown, The Fact Is That With An Implant In Most Cases You Have To Wait From A 4 Month To 6 Month Period While The Dental Implant Aosseointegrates To Your Bone Before It Can Be Rehabilitated & Restored. Once The Healing Process Takes Place After Placing The Implant, You Can Return To The Clinic Where They Will Slightly Open Up Again, Remove The Healing Cap, Screw In The Abutment, Take An Impression, Have The Final Crown Made & Placed. One Of The Pros Of Having A Dental Implant Rather Than A Bridge Is That If For Whatever Reason The Crown On The Implant Were To Break, Chip, Etc... It Would Be A Whole Lot More Affordable To Replace That One Crown As Opposed To Replacing Lets Say, A 3-Unit Bridge (A Bridge Has To Consist Of At Least 2 to 3 Units, A Bridge Can Consist of As Many As 12 to 14 Teeth As Well). In Some Case There Are Other Treatments Required Before Being Able To Place A Dental Implant, Such As A Sinus Lift, Bone Graft, Membrane, Extraction, Etc... Please Keep In Mind That These Procedures Are Not Included. A Dental Implant Has A Starting Cost Of $900 USD For The Surgical Phase (Which Is The Placing Of The Implant) After 4 to 6 Months When You Come Back To Get The Implant Rehabilitated You Will Responsible For Covering The Cost Of The Abutment Which Has A Starting Cost Of $100 USD to $250 USD In Some Cases, Also You Will Be Responsible For The Cost Of The Crown Which Has A Starting Cost Of $350 USD Depending On The Material You Choose.
